  • Citronella essential oil (optional, for added bug protection)

How to Make Citronella Jar Lanterns

Step 1: Fill the Jar

Fill your mason jar about ¾ full with water.

Step 2: Add Citrus

Drop in a few lemon and lime slices. This not only looks pretty but helps enhance the fresh scent.

Step 3: Add Herbs

Place a sprig of rosemary or mint into the jar for a natural, decorative touch.

Step 4: Boost with Citronella

Add a few drops of citronella essential oil if you have it. This helps repel mosquitoes even more.

Step 5: Add the Candle

Place a floating candle on top of the water (or set a tea light on the lid if you prefer).

Step 6: Decorate

Tie twine or ribbon around the rim for a rustic, finished look.
